Tiny Tumblers

Question: What could be cuter than watching little kids explore gymnastic equipment?
Answer: Watching Maddox do the exploring!
Last week, I took Maddox to his "Tiny Tumblers" gymnastics class in Northfield while Heidi was busy doing more landscaping work. What a hoot! The class of about 10 pre-schoolers started out with stretching activities (I did great, Maddox watched), and then the little ones had about 1/2 hour to use all their large muscles in free play (Maddox did great, I watched).

Maddox's first stop was the in-floor trampoline. Walking on that bouncy surface was pretty challenging! We jumped together for a few minutes, then he tried it on his own.

Ooops - down he goes!

The landing was very soft, though, and he just got up and tried again. Even getting up was tricky.

He wasn't quite ready for that vault, but climbing on the big mats was fun!

Maddox loved jumping into the foam cubes (the landing area for the horse). Then he decided to dismantle a tower that some other child had made with the cubes. He spent about 5 minutes throwing cube after cube back into the pit - what a concentrated effort!

This pile of mats led to a slide. He negotiated the first few steps, but this one looked pretty big - "Help me, Grandma?"

After all that work, it was time for a little relaxing - watching the girls (hmmmm!).

It's so nice to have summer vacation so I can have the chance to do some of these fun activities with Maddox. Sure beats cleaning closets and painting bathrooms!
