Birthday - Parts 1 and 2

It always seems like birthday celebrations go on forever. Mine is July 28th (I won't say how many), and we started celebrating last Saturday night when Chuck took me to a Three Dog Night concert at Treasure island. It was a great concert, but it was pretty bizarre to hear the familiar sounds of good songs coming from some very OLD rockers. The average age of the audience was pretty old, too, except for us :-)

Next, I spent today shopping and lunching with my buddies. Three of us have birthdays within 10 days, so we've been getting together for years sometime during the end of July. Lunch this year was Italian at Maggiano's - yummy - after coffee in the morning at a French bakery. If we can't go to Europe, at least we can eat like we're there!

Next on the agenda is Part 3 - a family gathering up north at the lake where we have a cabin rented for a week. Pizza and Dairy Queen cake are on the menu. Pictures of that, plus hopefully some of the huge fish that Chuck plans to catch, will come later.

Hanging out

We went to Farmington on Saturday and, along with Corey, took Maddox for a looooooong walk. We stopped for pizza at a local strip mall and although Maddox wanted pizza, he had to be satisfied with cheerios and a little water. His time will come!

Quick Trip

Well, I've been to Florida and back, and had a great time with our granddaughter, Phebe. We spent time at the beach, the pool, the Mall (what a shopper!), the theater (it rained Tuesday afternoon, so we went to Shrek 3), McDonald's, and just hanging out reading books and playing games. She loved the hotel swimming pool, but wasn't so crazy about the big waves at the beach. I was hoping to come home with an instant tan, but it was overcast or HOT so I ended up staying out of the sun most of the time. It was really hard to leave Wednesday afternoon, since I don't know when I'll be able to see her again, but it was great to have a chance to reconnect and take lots of pictures! Hopefully, maybe we can bring her to Minnesota next summer to spend some time in the great northland!
