I woke up today to the most beautiful morning! It started out kind of foggy, but once the fog lifted and the sun came out, WOW! Every branch was covered with about 1/2 inch of sparkling frost, and when a light breeze came up, that frost started falling in huge flakes. Since Chuck was up north, I called my neighbor and we set off on a hike in this winter wonderland.
Ths snow banks are so huge that the mailboxes are like caves in the snow. See the one in the lower right corner?
We were in awe as we walked around our cul de sac!

It was a little nippy, but we decided to walk down our hill to the Cannon Valley Trail access.
The trail to the left (towards town) is plowed, although I don't think anyone will be sitting on that Rotary bench for awhile!
The trail to the right heads towards Welch along the river and is groomed for cross country skiiers.
We decided to stick to the plowed section. Hard to believe this is just 1 block away from houses, streets, and cars. I was just about to try some close-ups of the shrubs and trees when...my camera battery died. Darn! No more frost pictures for me! Within about an hour of our return home, all the frost was gone and the trees just looked bare again. I'm going skiing tomorrow - maybe it will be frosty again!
